In this age and time when talented Nigerian artistes are enjoying the spotlight on the foreign scene, I see no reason why a talent like Fireboy shouldn’t have moved passed the Nigerian market.
Since joining YBNL, Fireboy has been fantastic and consistent. A guy who released 2 superb albums in the space of 2years has nothing to prove again.
An artiste like Fireboy should be on the move to leave this ground level and aim for the sky but unfortunately, the same record label who shot him to the limelight is the one holding him from getting to where he deserves.
This is not to discredit the works that YBNL has done for Fireboy so far but it is beginning to seem like that label can’t get him passed this level.
Below Are Key Reasons I Think Fireboy Should Leave YBNL:-
YBNL Can’t Make Fireboy An International Star
If Rema can have so much international recognition few months after getting signed to Mavin, what exactly is stopping Fireboy?
The answer to the question above is not far-fetched, it’s YBNL. The label can only flex muscles in Nigeria but has no level outside Nigeria.
By now, Fireboy should have been shutting down big stages in Europe and America because he is blessed with the talent to make the kind of music that will appeal to International audience but that won’t happen if his music is not promoted there.
Olamide Is More Interested In Himself Going International Now
Just when we thought the YBNL x Empire deal will bring about huge international exposure for Fireboy, it turns out Empire focused more on Olamide instead. A wrong move.
If Olamide is really serious about going international, he needs to be realistic and smart about it. I don’t see Olamide getting as much international recognition as Tems is getting right now.
But Fireboy could easily be positioned well in the international scene, once Fireboy becomes an international music brand, It will be easier to tag Olamide along.
Now, Olamide is planning to go on a US tour, he’s probably going to take Fireboy along but I still think it should be Fireboy doing the US Tour, he deserves it.
If Olamide is now more interested in pushing himself Internationally, then I think Fireboy should use the door out of YBNL and get a team that will push his career towards international recognition.
Fireboy already has a discography that is deserving of international penetration but YBNL does not have what it takes to make that happen, therefore he might have to make leaving YBNL top on his priority list.
It is not betrayer or ungratefulness, it is just a case of a young talented guy pursuing greatness.
