Ahmedu Augustine, the Nigerian singer who is popularly known as Blackface, says that the media has brought his brand to ground zero.
The member of the now-defunct music group, Plantashun Boiz, alleged this in a recent interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo on his show With Chude.
Blackface said, “The media has succeeded in bringing the brand Blackface Naija to ground zero.
“No Nigerian or any award [-giving body] has given me one award. I’m the one they don’t want to talk about; but it’s all good.
“I came into the music industry to make music for the fans. I did not come to the industry because I wanted to get rich.
“But as far as the people embrace the music, then who cares?
“I don’t worry about the media. I just make music for them. I talk about it; creepy agents everywhere. They are all creepy agents and I make music with them.”
Blackface was known to have maintained an age-long beef with his former group member, 2Baba.
However, the defunct group members — 2face, Blackface, and Faze — had reunited and squashed their beef few months ago during the tribute service for popular singer, late Olanrewaju Fasasi, fondly known as Sound Sultan.
Plantashun Boiz was the rave of music industry during the late 90s and early 2020s till they broke up in 2004.
