Nigerian street hop artist, Habib Okikiola popularly known as Portable has been released on bail after being interrogated by the Police. The singer turned himself in after the Ogun State police command issued a wanted notice.
On June 29th, the Zazu singer who is said to have allegedly assaulted someone, reported himself to the Ogun police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
His manager and father accompanied him when he arrived.
The police commissioner, CP Lanre Bankole, promptly transferred the musician to the public complaint bureau office for questioning. The singer was later released on the condition that he be made accessible whenever necessary.
“Since the offence committed is a bailable one, and coupled with the strike action embarked upon by the civil servants in the state which also affected the courts, the suspect was released to a reliable surety who promised to produce him anytime he is needed,” police spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi said.
“Meanwhile, the assaulted victim has also been invited to come and state his own side of the story to enable the command to complete her investigation on time”, Mr Oyeyemi noted.
It would be recalled that following the release of a viral video that revealed Portable’s role in the attack on DJ Chicken, the police issued an order on June 20 directing Portable to report to the closest police station.
