After Many Years, Victor AD Is Still A One-Hit Wonder – Do You Agree?
In 2019, Victor AD was definitely one of the good ones, and he had all the potential any new artist could have.
After his “Wetin You Gain” single went viral, his fame skyrocketed and he became an instant superstar. His social media blew up, he got a Next Rated nomination at The Headies alongside Rema, Zlatan, others and he got a collabo with Davido.
That song with Davido, “Tire You” is the closest thing to a hit he’s got since he blew up, and of course, that’s definitely based on Davido‘s influence in the industry. It seemed as though the Warri guy was finished.
Well, in 2019, he made an effort to shut off the “one-hit wonder” comments by dropping an EP called “Red Eye.” If anything, what that EP did was tell people what they already know; that Victor AD is very good. And that, maybe, and just maybe, with the right push, he can make another hit.
But so far, has he been able to do that? Well, do you know any Victor AD hit songs? Cause I don’t. All he does these days is talking about imaginary haters on songs that end up going under the radar.
Normally, he’s supposed to have dropped his debut album by now, or at least be prepared to drop one. But it doesn’t even look like anyone would care if he does that. It might just be a bigger flop than Tekno‘s “Old Romance.”
This is the sad story of another South-South singer, who could’ve become the next Duncan Mighty or Timaya ending up as a one-hit wonder.
