Manushi Chhillar Crowned Miss World 2017

Manushi Chhillar, an Indian citizen has been crowned Miss World beauty pageant for the year 2017.


20-year-old Chhillar on 25 June 2017 took part in the Femina Miss India 2017 competition, representing the state of Haryana. During the competition, Chhillar was crowned Miss Photogenic, and went on to win the competition as well, earning the right to represent India at the Miss World 2017 competition.

Chhillar was presented the crown by Stephanie Del Valle, the last year’s Miss World winner from Puerto Rico at the event in Sanya City Arena in China which was televised live globally.

Ms Chhillar, a 20-year-old from Haryana, studied in St. Thomas School in New Delhi and Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Sonepat.

According to Ms Chhillar’s profile on the Miss World website, Ms Chhillar aims to be a cardiac surgeon and has plans of opening non-profit hospitals in rural areas.

The moment she was crowned, leaving behind beauty queens from countries like England, france and Mexico, among others, social media exploded with joy and congratulatory messages. People were exhilarated with the fact that Manushi had made her country proud. While some said that “It’s a proud moment for India”, others commented a simple, “congratulations.
