Why Amotekun Must Not Be Allowed To Operate: Tanko Yakasai

Tanko Yakasai, has advised the federal government against accepting the Western Nigeria Security Network code-named: Amotekun.He said this while speaking with journalists at the Sheraton Hotel, Lagos, on Saturday, saying Amotekun is left to operate in the south-west, it could make other regions to create armed security outfit. “If Amotekun is allowed, soon it may spill over to other regions and may become out of control when other regions come up with armed security outfits that may lead to an uncontrollable situation in the country,” he said.

Boy Killed, Several Injured As Boko Haram Bombs Borno Mosque

Following the attack by Boko Haram sect on a mosque in Gwoza, Borno state, on Sunday, a 12-year-old child has reportedly died and many others injured.The attacked reportedly linked to twin suicide bombers were said to have forced their way into the mosque while prayer was going on.According to a resident, the insurgents may have infiltrated the town during a wedding which held at the palace of the emir of Gwoza on Saturday.

Lassa Fever: Doctor Quarantined In Jigawa, Another Case Confirmed In Ogun

A medical doctor has been quarantined after showing signs of Lassa fever at Jahun local government area of Jigawa state, according to the state government.Salisu Mu’azu, acting permanent secretary, Jigawa state ministry of health, revealed this to journalists on Sunday.The victim, Anthony Etim, is a staff member of Medicins Sans Frontieres also known as Doctors without Borders, he said.

Jibrin Loses Rerun, Not Returning To House Of Reps

Abdulmumin Jibrin of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has lost the rerun election for Kuru and Bebeji federal constituency of Kano state.Jibrin was defeated by Aliyu Yako of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with a margin of 35,000 votes. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Yako as the winner after he secured 48,601 votes with Jibrin trailing behind with 13,507 votes.
