Popular Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe has expressed that the concept of marriage in Nigeria is overrated and for her getting married is not an achievement.
Recall that the actress got separated from her husband, Lanre Gentry, in 2018, amidst allegations of domestic violence.
The actress pointed out that mothers usually raise women to endure whatever their partners did to them, all because they wanted to stay married.

While speaking on her marriage experience on her YouTube channel, the actress said “Let’s just say as it is– marriage is overrated. It takes two people to make it work; it’s not just about the women. But, everybody keeps heaping all the responsibilities on the woman. That shouldn’t be.”
