Nigerian actor, Yul Edochie had an exclusive interview with Pulse.ng where he revealed he didn’t kneel to propose to his wife because it wasn’t necessary.
Information Nigeria recalls the actor had initially reacted to comments made by his father, Pete, disapproving of men who kneel to propose marriage to women.
Yul was invited to give his opinion on the idea of proposals, gender roles in marriage and institution in general.
During the recent interview, the movie star was asked if he went down on his kneels to ask for his wife’s hand in marriage and he said he did not.
Although, he agreed that it is not part of our culture and tradition to kneel while proposing, he said his father, Pete, 73, Edochie still lives in his era where the men are considered to be more dominant.
However, he said things have changed as the younger generation are trying to correct that narrative.
The actor further made reference to a tweet he wrote stating that the man is the head of the home but women shouldn’t be seen as lesser beings i.e. those needed to be subdued or controlled.
The veteran actor stated that the man and the woman are partners and should work together.
The actor also agreed that he is a feminist while stressing that God made the man and the woman to work together and not separately.
