BET Awards 2019: Burna Boy wins Best International Act
Nigerian Afro-fusion singer and songwriter, Damini Ogulu, known professionally as Burna Boy wins the award for Best International Act.
Burna Boy was nominated alongside Mr Eazi, AKA, Aya Nakamura, Dave, Dosseh, Giggs in the category.
The award was received by Bose Ogulu, his mum and manager, who also attended the ceremony.
In her acceptance speech, Mrs Bose Ogulu said:
He must be the most restless person i ever met, he was here right now. okay, thank you very much BET, em-mm, thank you Africa, because that’s the constituency for which we got noticed in the first place and the message from Burna, i believe would be “That every black person should please remember that you were Africans before you became anything else, Thank you.”
The music award show, which is in its 19th year, saw Cardi B kicking off performances at the Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater.
Finally, Burna Boy is currently the 6th Nigerian artiste to win this category in BET.
