There is no doubt the music industry has given us entertainment over the years.

Nigerians artists and celebrities that have made a name in the music business have definitely earned what they currently have. We’re very proud and grateful to them but, it looks like celebrities are not all about fame, popularity and wealth; it seems some of them see education as a priority and treat it as such.

These are 5 Nigerian celebrities who went back to school after getting fame:

1. Davido

In 2017, Nigerian musician Davido made a controversial announcement regarding his future – he was returning to school. He had come from a background of being able to do what he liked whenever he liked.

So, did Davido go to school for nothing? Not at all. His choice actually makes sense. Even when he was already successful and well known across the world, he still went ahead to fulfill his father’s dream of being a graduate. He graduated in Babcock in Music department.

2. Rema

The Edo born superstar has gained fame at such a young age and it has not stopped his pursuit for academics. The multi talented superstar has just gained admission into University of Lagos to study creative arts.He announced on his social media account: “What if I told y’all I got an admission into Unilag?

Lol, Mom said I still need to get a degree. oh well, see you guys in class!”

This clearly shows he heeded to the request of his mother to go to school despite being one of the finest singers in the county but it’s left to him to know how he can balance education with fame.

3. Dj Cuppy

Florence Otedola is one celebrity who has caused a lot of talks among fans when she went back to school despite being a famous lady.

The fact that she is a graduate of various schools already further surprised many Nigerians why she still had to go back to school despite being a daughter to one of the richest men in Africa.

He never cease to prove that she’s just like other ordinary students as she shares class and school sessions on her social media accounts always. She’s currently in the Oxford University, England, for a master’s degree in African Studies. It would be her second master’s degree as she bagged one already in Music Business from the New York University in 2015.

4. Kanayo O Kanayo

A legendary Nollywood Actor who is one of the African icons when it comes to film making announced his graduation from the University of Abuja having studied law in 2019.

Even though the famous actor was never seen publicly in the school, but was able to maintain the silence of him schooling while still facing his movie career

5. Odunlade Adekola

Arguably the best Yoruba actor in Nigeria is a graduate of Business Administration from the University of Lagos.

Odunlade was not a literate before he gained stardom in the entertainment industry. But we can’t help but to hail the Ogun born award winning actor for going back to school despite being a rich man and a star too.

The funny actor also explained that he was regular in his classes during his school days but we do not understand how he was able to do that with his busy schedules as a producer, singer and actor.

These gentle men and ladies have showed there is no limit to what anyone can achieve and also, that education is very important regardless of the status you have achieved.
